Maya Rudolph + Fred Armisen + PTA = AMAZING!!!

For whatever reason, I was lucky enough to get invited to go see this amazing sketch show written by Maya, Fred & Paul Thomas Anderson at the new Largo at the Coronet Theater tonight.  A few things…  The new Largo is nothing like the old Largo.  It is a big theater, and it feels like a big theater.  It lacks the intimacy of the old Largo, but it’s nice because it expands the scale of what is performed, and more people get to see it.  As Jon Brion said, it’s like comparing apples and oranges.  But it was really cool.  Speaking of Jon Brion, he did the music for the sketch show, and he is so insanely talented.  It brought a very cool element to the performance.  Maya and Fred are so funny.  It was a treat to watch them.  At times it was almost like a radio show because they were for the most part sedentary, but the writing was so sharp, and they brought so much to it - it was really special.  But above all else, it reinvigorated me once again on Los Angeles.  This place just never comes up short.  You can be working all day and get a random email from your pal Jesse asking you if you want to go see the PTA play, and BAM! there you are watching some truly incredible one night only star studded shit.  It was really special and I felt lucky to  be there.
