Knee Braces post 9/11
Since my surgery, I have to constantly wear a knee brace. This makes the security check in at airports a real treat. Every time I let them know I have a knee brace on, and every time I have to go through a manual pat down. If ever there was a case of closing the door after the horse has left the barn, it’s the tightened security hassle that we face every time we want to fly anywhere. It is the most inefficient, ineffective procedure. No terrorist is going to be stupid enough to get caught by this process, and there aren’t going to be anymore shoe bombers, so there is no point to everyone having to x-ray their shoes. And today they confiscated my toothpaste, which is not a threat to anything other than cavities. This process makes no sense, and is just a micro example of the macro imposition on personal freedoms that Bush has managed to put in place since 9/11. If they want to get us, their still going to get us, but not through sneakers and mouthwash. How long are we going to line up like sheep to go through this process, and will ever it return to how it was? Can’t there be a middle ground?
